By Yajie Cao, CTO, CAREKONECT Software Inc.

Last week, I had the pleasure of representing CAREKONECT Software Inc. at the Agentforce World Tour Toronto — Salesforce's flagship AI event that brought together innovators, developers, and industry leaders to explore the transformative power of “agentic AI.”

As the CTO of a company deeply focused on healthcare system optimization, I attended this event with one key question in mind:

> Can autonomous AI agents help relieve pressure in healthcare environments — not just automate, but actually anticipate and act?

From Workflow Automation to Workflow Intelligence

What impressed me most was Salesforce's bold shift from passive automation tools to proactive, decision-capable AI agents. Instead of waiting for a user to click a button, these agents can monitor real-time data, interpret workflows, and take action — whether it's routing a service request, flagging anomalies, or surfacing contextual recommendations.

For healthcare, this opens up immense possibilities:

  • An AI agent that flags high-risk patients based on intake forms and triage notes.
  • An agent that monitors bed availability and automatically prioritizes discharge workflows.
  • A scheduling agent that predicts doctor availability and patient no-show risk, then adjusts appointments accordingly.

At CAREKONECT, we've already begun exploring agent-based features in our Ward Status Module and AI Triage System — and this event validated we're heading in the right direction.

What I Took Away

Here are three takeaways that resonated deeply:

  1. AI Agents are Only as Good as the Data They're Fed
  • Without clean, real-time, and structured data, agents fail. This reaffirms our investment in interoperable data pipelines and healthcare-grade security.
  1. Agent Governance Matters in Regulated Industries
  • I attended a breakout session on AI governance — a reminder that in healthcare, transparency, audit trails, and physician override must be built-in, not bolted-on.
  1. The Human-AI Partnership is the Future
  • The goal isn't replacing clinicians or administrators — it's giving them more time and clarity to do what only humans can do: care, decide, and connect.

What's Next for CAREKONECT

Inspired by Agentforce, we are now actively prototyping:

  • A Discharge Readiness Agent that flags patients for review based on multi-parameter signals.
  • A Real-time Routing Agent for ER cases using intake, room status, and triage urgency.
  • A Clinical Alert Agent that supports nursing workflows with smart nudges.

We'll test these features with our partner hospitals this fall — and continue building with empathy, safety, and patient impact in mind.

To the Salesforce team — thank you for organizing a day packed with insights, demos, and genuine conversations. To fellow healthtech leaders — if you're navigating the intersection of AI and care delivery, let's connect.

AI agents are coming. Let's build them responsibly — and for good.
